What’s Wrong With Web Hosting?
It is no secret that the industry has a very high percentage of dissatisfied customers stay. Having been a webmaster for 10 years, and the owner of a web hosting company for 8 years, I realized that the problem can be traced to one thing -. Communication seems to be a real gap between clients and their web hosting providers, which inhibits the free communication geeks.
One of the reasons we face is that most web hosting companies are owned and operated by the computer. State General, geeks are much better on computers that people do. Consequently, we have an entire industry of suppliers who are very adept at technology, but absent in people skills. Let’s face it – if someone spends 16 hours a day with the interaction of computer components and networks, which probably did not understand the subtleties that little grease the skids of human interaction.
Another problem is the false hopes raised by its own web marketing materials. Most hosting providers have a web site that was described as having a large legal entity, when in reality, most hosting companies are run by sole proprietors.
The site may have an image of high technology glass and building offices beam, but the reality is often a guy sitting at home overworked in his pajamas. When the client begins to experience limitations in this Agreement, frustration and anger sets in, acidification of the relationship. Ironically, that same customer can be totally thrilled with this same host, despite the limitations, if only they knew the restrictions to enter the system.
In addition, communication can be strained to the breaking point for a web host, the views of customers in a nasty part of the work, instead of seeing the real needs of real people who are interested in continuing the business relationship. Fortunately, this problem can be avoided entirely if the hosting customer to use some wisdom and discrimination, when shopping for a service provider.
